Tree Planting
Cultivating Life, Unity, and Environmental Stewardship
After the spiritually enriching Holy Mass that opened the Provincial Games, the next highlight of the event was the meaningful tree-planting exercise led by the Prior Provincial. This activity was more than just a routine environmental gesture—it was a symbolic act rooted in faith, community, and the Augustinian call to care for creation.
The Prior Provincial began the exercise with words of encouragement, reminding everyone present that planting a tree is an act of hope. It is a commitment to the future and a visible expression of our responsibility to safeguard the gift of the environment. His leadership inspired a good number of friars to take part in the activity, each friar stepping forward with enthusiasm and purpose.
As shovels touched the earth and seedlings found their new home in the soil, the friars worked side by side, demonstrating the spirit of community that defines Augustinian life. The exercise became a moment of fraternity—filled with laughter, cooperation, and a shared sense of purpose. In planting each tree, the friars embraced the deeper meaning of the activity: the call to nurture life, promote sustainability, and leave a positive mark on the world.
The tree-planting exercise also served as a reminder that environmental stewardship is not separate from spiritual life. For Augustinians, caring for the earth is a way of honoring God’s creation and living out the values of love and service. The event reflected the Order’s long-standing commitment to encouraging practices that protect and uplift both humanity and the natural world.
As the seedlings stood freshly planted, hope was visibly rooted in the ground—hope for a greener environment, for continued unity within the community, and for a future where responsible stewardship remains at the heart of Augustinian mission.
Below are pictures taken during the exercise, capturing moments of dedication, brotherhood, and the joyful energy that made this activity a memorable part of the Provincial Games.
